I have to say I’m completely surprised about the number of people here saying that the deal is meaningless. I’m originally from Israel, I work for the largest Israeli news company, I speak to people from Israel and the UAE — this is big. A celebration of relations between a Middle-Eastern Arab country and Israel, with mutual flights, economic relations, embassies. This is not a meaningless matter.

I understand, and share, some of the sentiment towards Trump. I clearly mentioned that this deal is due to his risky and unstable agenda and not clever diplomacy. And yet down-playing this agreement just because you don’t like Trump is something I can’t understand. Even Democrats, even Biden, said it is an important development.
